Welcome to the Hinterland World of Adventure and Overland Travel

Hinterland Travel is a specialist adventure travel company, founded on over 35 years of overland adventure travel experience by Geoff Hann, its owner and Managing Director. The knowledge and expertise of Geoff in the Middle East, Mesopotamia and Afghanistan has put the Company into the forefront of Iraq and Afghanistan tour operators and experts. The four very successful tours from 2005 across the wilds of Northern and Central Afghanistan, led to the National Geographic Traveller Magazine accreditation as one of its '50 Tours of a lifetime'.

Tours to Iraq
Tours to Iraq proper or Mesopotamia as we like to call it have been on hold since 2004 as we have been unable to guarantee travel around Iraq and access to the sites. The current mood in Iraq is upbeat, vibrant and improving daily. Geoff Hann has just returned from Baghdad (November 2008) and parts south . As a result of this trip he is rather excitingly announcing the first tour for 7 March followed by a series of tours. We feel that the security provided and the timing of our first tour mean that 16 days will be sufficient. However changes will take place continually and flexibility will be required by all who travel with us. We will be looking to enlarge the scope of the tours throughout.

Our March tour has been very successfully completed.

We are operating our Kurdistan Iraq tours for May and September 2009 which combine with some of Turkey and the Kurdish areas of Iran.

Please keep in touch with us for our latest Mesopotamia tours situation.
