Export regulations in Chad
Items Free to Export
- Personal effects and souvenirs: Travelers can export personal belongings and souvenirs within reasonable quantities.
- Foreign currency: There are no restrictions on the amount of foreign currency that can be taken out of Chad, but amounts exceeding 5,000,000 CFA francs or its equivalent must be declared.
Prohibited Items
The following are goods which cannot be taken out of the country:
- Illegal drugs and narcotics.
- Weapons, explosives, and ammunition without proper authorization.
- Protected wildlife species and products derived from them (as per CITES regulations) without proper permits.
- Counterfeit goods and pirated items.
- Ivory and products made from endangered species.
Restricted Items
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained prior to departure:
- Local currency (CFA Franc) export is restricted to 2,000,000 CFA francs.
