Export regulations in Democratic Republic of the Congo
Items Free to Export
- Personal effects and souvenirs: Tourists are generally allowed to export personal items and souvenirs without restrictions.
- Foreign currency: There are no restrictions on the amount of foreign currency that can be taken out of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), but amounts exceeding USD 10,000 or its equivalent must be declared.
Prohibited Items
The following are goods which cannot be taken out of the country:
- Illegal drugs and narcotics.
- Weapons, explosives, and ammunition without proper authorization.
- Protected wildlife species and their products (as per CITES regulations) without proper permits.
- Counterfeit goods and pirated items.
- Cultural artifacts and items of historical significance without authorization.

- Local currency (Congolese Franc) export is restricted to CDF 10,000.
