Prohibited items
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country:
- Obscene publications, such as videos, journals, cassettes, and other media;
- Drugs;
- Subversive publications that may disturb public law and order.
Restricted items
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained prior to arrival:
- Narcotic and psychotropic drugs and their precursors must be declared, and must meet the legal requirements of Tajikistan and its international treaties.
- Items of cultural value require the permission of the Ministry of Culture.
- Medicinal plants.
- Articles, books, films, or other medial which compromise state secrets, or promote fascism, racism, or ethnic and religious turmoil.
- Toxic and radioactive materials.
- Arms, ammunition, and explosives.
