Uzbekistan customs export restrictions

Knowing export rules is crucial for all travelers, even if you're not traveling for business. While many focus on import regulations, export rules are equally important and can differ significantly.

Items Free to Export

  • Personal belongings and items for personal use
  • Souvenirs and gifts not exceeding the value of $3,000 USD

Prohibited Items

The following items are prohibited from export:

  • Weapons and ammunition without proper authorization
  • Narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors
  • Materials that promote violence, pornography, or extremism
  • Rare and endangered species of animals and plants, their parts and derivatives
  • Cultural valuables and objects of historical significance without special permission

Restricted Items

These items are subject to restrictions and may require special permits:

  • Currency: Export of foreign currency is allowed up to $2,000 USD without declaration. Amounts exceeding this limit must be declared and require supporting documents.
  • Precious metals and stones: Require special permission and documentation
  • Artworks and antiques: May require certification from the Ministry of Culture
  • Certain foodstuffs and agricultural products: May require phytosanitary certificates
